Introduction to Yoga

This is a 30-hour introductory course in Yoga theory and practice.

Asana Workshop Series

This is an 18-hour mixed-level course in Yoga theory and practice. Each 4.5-hour session is also available as an individual workshop.

Prerequisite: The ability to execute Sun Salutations with control

Deepening Your Practice

This is a 100-hour course in Yoga theory and practice with Marissa Lee Harris and Jeremy Drew. It constitutes the first 1/2 of the Desert Yoga School 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training, a Yoga Alliance-registered program.

Prerequisite: Some experience with yoga, preferably our 30-hour Introduction to Yoga course or the equivalent. 


Summer 2020 Session:
May 22-24, May 29-31, June 5-7, June 12-14 2020
Fridays 6-8 pm

Basic Yoga Teaching

This is a 100-hour course in Yoga instruction, teaching methodology and practice teaching with Marissa Lee Harris and Jeremy Drew. It is open to students who have completed the Desert Yoga School "Deepening Your Practice" intensive. It constitutes the second 1/2 of the Desert Yoga School 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training, a Yoga Alliance-registered program. Students who complete this intensive and who wish to receive a 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training Certificate from Desert Yoga School will be asked to complete a series of homework assignments.

200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training

Desert Yoga School's Yoga Alliance-Registered 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training includes the following courses and homework:


1. Establish a self-led yoga practice that includes a postures practice, basic breathing exercises, concentration and relaxation. Either take our Introduction To Yoga course or a series of Private Lessons (2-6 lessons spread out over at least two months).


2. Complete of our Deepening Your Practice 100-hour intensive course, including readings and home practice assignments.


3. Demonstrate proficiency in the basic postures practice and tell us about how yoga practice has transformed your life. Show us that you are an ethical person who  will uphold professionalism as a yoga teacher.


4. Complete our Basic Yoga Teaching 100-hour intensive course, including readings, anatomy assignments, home practice assignments and practice teaching assignments.

Subtle Body + Philosophy

This is a 30 +/- hour course in Yoga philosophy, Pranayama, Sanskrit chanting, Yoga Nidra, concentration/meditation, and Yoga lifestyle, taught by Marissa Lee Harris and Jeremy Drew. It is offered in conjunction with other yoga schools' and studios' programming and fulfills the Yoga Alliance "Subtle Body + Philosophy" requirements for 200-hour and 300-hour teacher trainings.

Individualized Instruction

One-on-one yoga lessons with Jeremy or Marissa in our pleasant yoga room are available at the rate of $50/hour. 


Individualized instruction can be of benefit to sincere yoga students of all levels of experience. This is the fastest way to learn!

Customized Courses of Study for Yoga Alliance CEC's

Yoga teachers are invited to contact us about a customized course of study to satisfy Yoga Alliance Continuing Education requirements


One-on-one mentoring helps yoga teachers expand their knowledge base, improve their skills and become more effective educators. 


Desert Yoga School is registered with Yoga Alliance as a provider of 300-hour (Advanced) yoga teacher trainings. Dedicated, long-term Desert Yoga School students who already hold 200-hour (Basic) yoga teacher training certificates are encouraged to inquire about our Advanced Teacher Training Program, which is customized to each student and conducted as an ongoing mentorship over the course of no fewer than 36 months.
